Secret Beach is Surprisingly… Still A Secret

Secret Beach in Kaohsiung.

Secret Beach in Kaohsiung.

We found a another slice of paradise: Secret Beach.

Secret Beach is a hidden gem rarely frequented by the Taiwanese (minus a few fishermen) and I’m still in disbelief that it exists.

And good news is, this time it’s in our hometown, so no 40 mile cycle ride required. I can get there in less than an hour from my city apartment via bike and a short hike down the cliffs.

Sea glass from Secret Beach. My guess is the green glass is from all of the green Taiwan Beer bottles.

  1. Oooohhh that last photo reminds me of Glass Beach in California. It used to be a dump in the 1940’s but nowadays all that’s left is billions of glass pebbles in a variety of colors, the result of 70+years of waves polishing the old broken glass bottles.

Anyway finding secret spots like that is one of my favorite things to do while traveling. Good find!

    • Thanks! The spot is definitely a hidden gem. It’s crazy to think that one can disappear to such a place in only a 30 or so minute bike ride from the big city. The beach glass was just an added bonus; I have almost collected enough to make a mosaic 🙂
